本書為高等學(xué)校地下工程類專業(yè)應(yīng)用型本科系列教材之一，以培養(yǎng)學(xué)生英語專業(yè)文獻(xiàn)閱讀和翻譯能力為主要目標(biāo)。全書共分四個部分：*部分為專業(yè)英語的基礎(chǔ)知識，主要介紹了專業(yè)英語的詞匯特點、文體特點、結(jié)構(gòu)特點及翻譯的方法與技巧;第二部分為地下工程專業(yè)英文文獻(xiàn)的選編，結(jié)合地下工程所涵蓋的業(yè)務(wù)范圍，集中選取了20篇英文文獻(xiàn),同時還選編了20篇閱讀材料，作為讀者進(jìn)一步學(xué)習(xí)相關(guān)專業(yè)英語知識的輔助材料。第三部分為科技論文的寫作，主要介紹了科技英語的基本知識與常用寫作格式。第四部分為詞匯表，匯總了選編英文文獻(xiàn)中的生詞與主要專業(yè)詞匯，同時還匯編了相關(guān)建筑工程規(guī)范中的專業(yè)術(shù)語詞匯表，使讀者能準(zhǔn)確掌握專業(yè)詞匯的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)英語表達(dá)方式。
本書可作為地質(zhì)工程、巖土工程、土木工程、城市地下空間工程、管廊工程、隧道工程等專業(yè)的本科生與研究生的教材或課外閱讀材料，也可供從事相關(guān)專業(yè)的工程技術(shù)人員、管理人員和教師使用與參考。
